Past volunteer testimonials
“After years of watching my son and daughter-in-law participate and volunteer in races (including Eau Claire) I decided I'd like to also volunteer. I loved to see the energy and enthusiasm of both volunteers and runners. Well, I was hooked! In 2023, I introduced to my Neighborhood Association the opportunity to become more involved by recruiting and placing volunteers along the course. We had 17 people show up Sunday morning and everyone expressed how much fun they had and that they would do it again. We are already planning our 2024 activities. I know how important volunteering is, so I plan on doing a couple more shifts for the marathon weekend. Like they say, ‘If we all do a little, a lot will get done.’ I encourage everyone to become involved in this wonderful event. The passion and dedication is enlightening.”

You may recognize this volunteer group from past Eau Claire Marathon events cheering loudly and waving their decorated signs. For nearly 10 years, the Youth Group at Hmong Christian Church (HCC) in Eau Claire has made it a tradition to support and give back to the community at our race events. Most recently, they handed out water and snacks to keep our race participants hydrated and energized at our first ever Ho-Heau-Ho 5k race. In just a few short weeks, they will be handing out donuts to keep our racers fueled at the XOX-Eau Valentine’s 5k.
Volunteering gives the HCC Youth Group a chance to support and connect with our community of runners from across the globe while learning the value of kindness and teamwork. Their involvement in our races is a reflection of their commitment to supporting others and giving back to the community. Alongside volunteering, the Youth Group is currently raising funds to support their way to attend a week-long conference in Indiana this summer, where they’ll focus on personal growth, team-building and fellowship.
"Each year the Eau Claire Marathon allows the current sophomore class at Regis High School to help gather a large group of volunteers to direct runners at the event itself. As a Class Officer of the 2017 sophomore class I had the opportunity to assemble a group of 70+ Regis students and families to participate!
This was very beneficial for our Regis families because many of our students were not aware of the Marathon and what it does for our community. Not only did students see parts of Eau Claire they weren't familiar with, but they were able to participate in the atmosphere brought by other volunteers and the runners themselves. Our group was inspired and humbled by the perseverance of the runners especially. The values of the Eau Claire Marathon aligned with that of Regis Catholic Schools which promote teamwork and leadership in our area. It is amazing to watch our community come together for such a positive event! We are honored to be a part of the Eau Claire Marathon each year and look forward to the years to come."
